Try disconnecting a cable or switching off a device and watch how the rings heal, which PLC takes over, and whether treatment keeps running. If the SCADA side is compromised, the orange Operations ring takes over through the OITs and operator workstations. Everything is reversible with “Clear all faults”.
A scenario applies faults to the live model. Then use the recovery controls on the right to keep water moving, and watch the treatment cards respond.
How the rings behave: in normal operation the ring supervisor keeps one of its two ring ports on standby so there is no loop. When one cable breaks, the supervisor opens that standby port within a few milliseconds and traffic beyond the break simply flows the other way around. Two breaks split the ring, and anything outside the supervisor's piece loses ring connectivity. If the supervisor itself fails, the backup supervisor takes over.
